Mapping for Environmental Justice (MEJ) creates easy-to-use, publicly-available interactive maps that paint a holistic picture of intersecting environmental, social, and health impacts experienced by communities across the US.
Mapping for Environmental Justice (MEJ) works with advocates and policymakers to build cumulative impacts maps and apply them in public policy. Their first map is Colorado, with more state maps coming soon.
MEJ’s maps display the intersecting environmental, public health, and socioeconomic disparities experienced by low-income communities and communities of color, allowing users to identify disproportionately impacted communities. This cumulative impacts approach combines this data into a single indicator of cumulative environmental justice impact.
Mapping for Environmental Justice is a project of the Earth Island Institute.
