Lake Christine (Basalt) Fire info


A hillside east of Basalt smolders late Wednesday amid wind gusts that spread the Lake Christine Fire, drastically increasing the evacuation area.

The Lake Christine fire wildfire was started Tuesday evening by two people who were firing tracer rounds at a shooting range northwest of Basalt.

As of midday Friday, July 6, the fire was holding at 5,263 acres. Three homes have burned.
