MAPPING the OIL and GAS THREAT: A Western Colorado Update

Monday, August 8
6:30 p.m.
Glenwood Springs Community Center

Join Western Colorado Congress for an evening of information and discussion about oil and gas issues on the Western Slope. Representatives from the Sierra Club and local impacted community members will give a demonstration of the new online interactive Oil and Gas Threat Map, which tracks populations, medical facilities, and schools located within a half mile “threat radius” of oil and gas facilities. It also includes EPA data on other air toxins associated with oil and gas pollution, and maps the counties that face above average risk for cancer and respiratory health impacts.

We all want our elected officials to fight alongside us to protect the precious lands, air, and water on the Western Slope of Colorado. Our legislators are making big decisions when it comes to the environmental legacy of our state. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track of their votes. Join us for a fun night of music, friends, and food while we talk about how our state legislators voted on key environmental issues and how we can protect the places we love.
