The air in Silt — Part 2

In advance of the AQCC air quality rulemaking hearings February 19-21, and in protest of Silt being completely left out of the 142-page EPAC Rebuttal Statement, I am posting photos of the air in Silt.

Long-term exposure to air pollution can lead to chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart diseases, and many other illnesses. I have testified that I and members of my family have been gradually sickened from long-term exposure to this air pollution. According to the American Lung Association, 9.1% of children in Colorado have asthma, which is higher than the national average of 8.9%.

In fact, the degradation of our air quality has occurred over several years. This post displays photos taken in 2012, by John Lesh from his porch on Silt Mesa.

What is wrong with you? The June 28, 2012 pictures clearly show smoke from a wildfire! I remember there were several fires that summer. And you are trying to make people believe that this is related to the oil and gas industry? WOW!

  2. Peggy Tibbetts Says:

These are photos of air quality. I make no claims that they are related to oil and gas. The county has made claims of good air quality in western Garfield County. There is no air quality monitor in Silt or on Silt Mesa. These photos — by means of illustration — are meant to call into question the county’s claims of good air quality.

I agree with Patrick What is wrong with you?
