A Constitutional Crisis Continues in Colorado
Petition by Carl L. McWilliams
To be delivered to The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama
PREAMBLE: This First Amendment Petition for a “Redress of Grievances” is enacted by WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO under our inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and carries the full force of law:
Colorado Senators Mike Bennet and Mark Udall. Colorado Congressional Representatives: Jared Polis, Mike Coffman, Cory Gardner, Doug Lamborn, Diana DeGette, Scott Tipton and Ed Perlmutter:
WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO hereby declare:
THE COLORADO OIL & GAS CONSERVATION COMMISSION is unconstitutional. Therefore, your “Constitutional Oaths” to WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO demand an en bloc and public “Congressional Inquiry” into the constitutionality of the COLORADO OIL & GAS CONSERVATION COMMISSION ACT.
Because 2014 is an election year and in order for WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO to judge your commitment to your “Constitutional Oaths;” WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO hereby demand: This “Congressional Inquiry” must be undertaken in the public arena and completed before May 1, 2014.
According to the petition’s author Carl McWilliams: “The real strength WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO possess to fight back against the Fracking invasion is found in our Constitutional rights. WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO must remember that we were empowered by the Founding Fathers, within the Constitution of the United States, to ‘PETITION THE GOVERNMENT FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES.’
“Obviously the Governor and most of the Colorado General Assembly are in the tank for the Fracking industry. By signing the new Petition: WE THE PEOPLE OF COLORADO use the force of the First Amendment and demand our Constitutional rights for an (en bloc-as a group) public ‘Congressional Inquiry’ by all nine of the Colorado Congressional members, (Senator Michael Bennet, Senator Mark Udall, Congressman Jared Polis, Congressman Mike Coffman, Congressman Cory Gardner, Congressman Doug Lamborn, Congresswoman Diana DeGette, Congressman Scott Tipton, and Congressman Ed Permutter) into the constitutionality and legality of the COLORADO OIL & GAS CONSERVATION COMMISSION ACT.”
