It’s estimated more than one hundred people turned out for the anti-fracking protest outside the Democratic Governors Association meeting at the St. Regis in Aspen on Saturday. In case you missed it (so did I) here are some of the highlights.

Fracking Protesters Follow Hickenlooper To Aspen At Democratic Governors Association Meeting

ASPEN– This tiny resort town, set high above the heavily plied natural-gas fields of the Colorado Front Range, was the unlikely scene on Saturday of the latest clash in the running battle in the state over the controversial natural-gas-extraction method known as fracking. More than 100 anti-fracking protesters gathered outside the Democratic Governors Association meeting held here, waving signs, shouting slogans and staging street-theater scenes in an attempt to draw the attention of Governor John Hickenlooper and the other “important state leaders and presidential hopefuls” in attendance …

Activist protest Hickenlooper’s oil and gas policies

Democratic governors from across the country are in Aspen this weekend for a summer policy conference.

While the governors met, dozens of activist gathered to protest Governor Hickenlooper’s oil and gas policies

They want him to stop supporting horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing, also known as “fracking.”

“I wanted to show up to make sure Governor Hickenlooper and the other governors across the country that are still pro-fracking and pro-natural gas hear us,” Allison Wolff, with Frack Free Colorado, said. “We really want to ask them to accelerate our move to renewable energy.”

With elections are coming up next fall, these activist say its decision time.

What they want is a different energy future, arguing fracking comes with dangerous health risks …
