No. Aspen residents did not suddenly wake up to the dangers of fracking. No. They did not organize as a community to oppose oil & gas drilling which happens to be knocking on their doorstep. This event is hosted by Protect Our Colorado; Colorado 350; CODEPINK; BoCoCCR; Food and Water Watch; Americans Against Fracking; Frack Free Colorado; Frack Free Boulder; Earth Guardians; and Sierra Club.
On July 13, Democratic state governors will gather in Aspen for a policy conference — and you can be there, too. Send a message to Governor Hickenlooper and other governors from across the country that “good governors don’t frack their people.”
July 13, 2013
12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m.
St. Regis Hotel, 315 E Dean St, Aspen, CO (map)
RSVP: Click here to join the Aspen anti-fracking demonstration.
This is an anti-fracking & pro-renewable energy demonstration, “fracking fluid” kool-aid competition (get the kids involved!), satirical public theater, and a few fun surprises. Please bring your own signs.
This is your chance to make sure these important state leaders (and presidential hopefuls) know that support for dirty, dangerous fracking is unacceptable and unpopular with voters. It’s time for them to get on the right side of history on this issue.
You may also wish to attend an event that the Aspen Institute is hosting for the Governors that afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m. to ask questions. A $20 ticket is required to attend, which may be purchased here.
