Locally there are two wildfires north of Rifle Gap.

The Brush Creek fire flared up on Thursday (6/20). It has burned 300 acres and is not yet contained. No structures burning.

Brush Creek Fire 10 am Friday – The new 350-acre Brush Creek Fire about 10 miles north of Rifle; 4 miles north of Rifle Gap State Park. It is burning all on Bureau of Land Management Land, and was started by lightning. It is above Puma Paw Ranch west of Rifle Creek.

The Ward Gulch fire burned 485 acres since June 14 and is 100% contained.

There are currently 9 wildfires reported burning in Colorado. The largest fire is the West Fork Complex in the San Juan Mountains which is actually two fires spread across 18,000 acres in beetle-kill territory.
