May fracks and a rig move

This just in — Colorado Oil And Gas Fines Bill Killed In Impasse Last Day Of Legislative Session

This is a first for From the Styx. I’ve never posted upcoming fracks and rig moves before. Somehow this information landed in my inbox. Since I have a blog, it seems irresponsible to keep it to myself.

On our twisty, turn-y county roads it can be totally unnerving to round the bend and encounter a rig move. It’s easy to wind up in the ditch and many folks have. This WPX Energy rig move is happening now through the weekend.

Nabors 574 Drilling Rig will begin moving Tuesday, May 7th until Sunday, May 12th.
Here is the route description (see map above): Drive off pad to CR 301. Turn left. Drive approx 4 miles. Turn right at Turkey Track onto CR 309. Proceed on CR 309 approx 1 mile. Turn left onto CR 320 (River Road). Drive on CR 320 approx 4 miles to CR 323. Turn right. Drive onto CR 323 approx .5 miles to HWY 6 &50. Turn left. Drive West on 6 & 50 approx 6.5 miles. Turn right up the Hayes Gulch road and proceed to the GM 245-1 pad.

Five fracks in West Mamm

Watch for increased truck traffic this month and next on CR 319 and all connecting roads.

Piceance Energy (Laramie Energy) will begin moving in equipment starting in mid to late May to commence completion (fracking) of 5 wells drilled in 2003 on their acreage in West Mamm. This will impact those residents living on CR 319 (instead of 317) from the airport to the end of West Mamm. The completions will entail a significant increase in traffic, but the operator reports they will strive to keep it down as much as we can. The operator is also working with the White River National Forest on any road issues they might have concerns with.
