Jankovsky throws self under blunderbuss

Records release reveals more about secret Vernal meeting
Commissioner Jankovsky chalks it up to politics

Tom Jankovsky — who is not up for re-election – is taking the fall for the secret oil shale meeting in Vernal on March 27. Why did he organize the meeting?

BOCC Chairman John Martin

I thought John Martin was BOCC Chairman. Apparently Martin and Samson – who are up for re-election – have lost the will to live and are unable to speak for themselves. Or perhaps they can’t remember whether they were there. They could ask Tom – he seems to know all about it.

Commissioner Mike Samson

A third possibility could be Martin and Samson appointed Jankovsky as their campaign chairman. He will get them re-elected by taking the blame for everything while they keep their mouths shut. I mean, when you read the article in The Paper it kinda sounds that way.

Jankovsky said, “I invited some oil shale companies from Colorado, because I wanted them to be present and to be heard”. But he neglected to invite the public and didn’t care whether they were “present and heard”. Or maybe that was Martin’s job and he just forgot.

I love how the Commissioners make a political decision in secret and when they get caught they blame politics. Makes me laugh out loud. They are elected officials. Of course it’s political.

Jankovsky said, “This is an election year, I think that’s driving a lot of it.

And no one knows that better than Tom as he covers for his buddies up for re-election. You see, it’s business-as-usual when they manipulate situations to their advantage but it’s political when someone calls bullshit.

And btw, Common Cause is hardly a “political” organization. That is, unless it’s political “for citizens to make their voices heard in the political process and to hold their elected leaders accountable to the public interest”.

I guess Commissioners Martin, Samson, and Jankovsky don’t appreciate the fact that “Common Cause is dedicated to restoring the core values of American democracy, reinventing an open, honest and accountable government that serves the public interest, and empowering ordinary people to make their voices heard in the political process”.

But that’s not their style. Theirs is more of an “us vs them” routine — when you consider they consistently put public health, air quality, and our water supply at risk for the potential for a few measly jobs.

Ok, so let’s make it really political —
