Garfield County, gas well drilling

At the recent EAB meeting Chris Canfield, COGCC’s environmental protection propagandist, boasted that the number of spills reported in 2011 was down significantly from 2010.

What a joke! It’s not hard to figure out why spills are down. The industry is responsible for reporting them. So they just don’t report them.

Like this one:

Crude oil dumped between West Rifle and Rulison

At $100/barrel I don’t think anybody is “dumping” crude oil.

Notice how fast that story disappeared down the memory hole. Did anyone clean it up? Did anyone claim responsibility? Did anyone file a Form 19 report?

There was another spill on Saturday. This time they got caught.

The best news in this story is Battlement Mesa resident Bob Arrington and Bloomberg Business Week reporter Peter Heller happened upon the accident scene and witnessed the so-called clean up.
