Antero Community Meeting next week!

Just announced last night at the EAB meeting!

Antero Community Meeting
Wednesday, February 8, 2012
6:30 P.M.
Silt Fire Station

Antero Resources representatives will meet with the public to discuss future drilling plans and address public questions and concerns.

Please remember, last October Antero Resources announced a comprehensive drilling plan application for an 8,200-acre area known as the South Gravel Trend, which parallels the southern boundary of the town of Silt. The plan calls for the construction of 21 new well pads, potential expansion of 41 existing well pads, and the drilling of up to 850 new wells from those pads over the course of six years.

Even though the plan was shelved and the application was pulled from the COGCC website in November, the delay is only temporary. We need to show up in big numbers with our questions and concerns.

I know this is ridiculously short notice. Hey, Antero didn’t even notify town staff. I informed staff this morning. Yes, you read that right. Antero did not notify Silt town staff about their annual community meeting. The meeting was announced at the EAB meeting on February 2.

Could it be such late notice is meant to discourage public turnout?

Come on, people. Let’s show Antero we care. This is about the future of our town, our public health and environment.

Be there!

However, if you will not be able to attend the meeting because of prior commitments, feel free to send an email to Antero reps to express your disappointment, as well as your questions and concerns regarding their future drilling plans in Silt.

  1. Fiona Lloyd Says:

    Stupidity or Strategy?

Given that “lack of communication from Antero” was the number one complaint I heard in every meeting in 2010, stupidity would be treating Antero kindly…… it isn’t as though they don’t have an email list a mile long that they gathered at the Coal Ridge Community Meeting last year.

  2. Peggy Tibbetts Says:

Whatever the case, I feel good about the publicity we managed to generate in a matter of a few hours.
