Blind PIGs in pipelines

Pipelines are in the news.

On January 18, President Obama rejected – for now – the Keystone XL pipeline project.  

This week a group of 44 Senators introduced legislation to overturn the President’s decision and revive the Keystone XL pipeline.

In the meantime, investigative reporter Greg Palast released this article:

Toward the end of the article this line grabbed my attention: “The danger of a muzzled PIG goes beyond Keystone XL. New gas fields opened by hydraulic fracking will require over 100,000 miles of new transmission pipe.”

The two new proposed pipelines in Garfield County will bore under the Colorado River, as well as under private lands and public BLM lands. The same fault-riddled software will be installed in the so-called “Smart PIGs” they will use to “inspect” these pipelines.
