Breaking: Complaint Filed Against Antero

ASPEN, CO, March 22, 2011 – Napoli Bern Ripka & Associates, LLP, a New York City based law firm and Aspen, Colorado based Thomas|Genshaft LLP are hosting a press conference on Thursday, March 24th at 11:00 am on the West Steps of the Colorado State Capital Building, 200 East Colfax Ave. The West Steps are located on Lincoln Street.

The law firms are announcing the filing of a Complaint which alleges that the operations undertaken by Antero Resources and several of its subcontractors in their natural gas drilling operations caused the contamination of the property of a Silt, Colorado family leading their forced exile from their home and serious health effects. The law firms anticipate filing similar actions in the near future.

The suit comes on the heels of many recent articles that have uncovered numerous other personal stories from Colorado residents complaining of the adverse effects of oil and gas operations. There was also a recent investigation on poor air quality carried out by a NY Times videographer which featured Silt, Colorado residents in a video documentary

The lawsuit to be filed on Thursday is part of a larger movement seeking to bring accountability to the industry, such as the recent announcement of Colorado U.S. Reps. Diana DeGette and Jared Polis recently introducing the Fracturing Responsibility and Awareness of Chemicals Act (FRAC Act).

Lead environmental attorney for Napoli Bern & Ripka, Marc Bern states, “With the filing of this lawsuit we hope to help this fine family begin to rebuild their lives and afford them the additional medical care they now require. While we understand the need for a safe domestic supply of energy, it should not be carried out in a manner that puts the corporate profits ahead of the safety and lifestyles of the residents bearing the burden.”

Attorney Peter W. Thomas, Thomas Genshaft, LLP added, “Our law firms are continuing to research communities state wide and are dedicated to protecting and improving water quality, air quality and property values for their families, including livestock and allowing them to maintain their way of life as they are entitled.” Colorado residents listed in the Complaint will be present at the Press Conference, as well as copies of the Complaint provided to the media.
