Silt Skating Rink

December 28, 2009

Christmas, dogland, river park, Silt, skating rink

I said I was going to take time off for the holidays. Ok, so I lied.

Some local hockey dudes made a skating rink on the pond at River Park (aka Dogland). Tod took some photos.

They shoveled the snow off the existing pond ice, and played a game of pickup hockey.

The ice was kind of bumpy. They had brought a drill with them so they drilled a hole and flooded the ice to make it smooth. Or at least less bumpy.

Now Silt has a skating rink. Not courtesy of Silt Parks & Rec. Our town government had nothing to do with it. This was just a bunch of guys who spent Christmas Eve afternoon having great fun on the ice. We didn’t get their names. But we thank them all for this beautiful rink. It’s the perfect Christmas gift.

This is what I love about Silt.

Oh mi gosh how kewl. But don’t get their names, they might get fined or something. Fun on public property or something.

Actually I was a little concerned about that after I posted the photos. I thought, oh crap now they’ll probly get busted for something.
