Heather Rousseau is a second year graduate student in the Visual Communication program at Ohio University. She decided to leave her job as Chief Photographer at the Aspen Daily News to study multimedia, environmental sustainability, and grow as a visual storyteller. Previous to working in Colorado she was a freelance photojournalist based out of Detroit, Michigan.
Last fall, Heather visited western Garfield County while doing research for her photo-journalism project, The Colorado River: Lifeblood of the West. While visiting, Heather attended the WCC Annual Meeting in Battlement Mesa and took the toxic gaspatch tour with our group.
Heather has generously allowed me to share her finished project with my readers. This is the story of a river and the land it touches and the people who love them both. Heather Rousseau does an excellent job of presenting the issues that define all of us in the 21st century.
